Answer by EPM staff person, Linda Jeffries
As Randy says in this chapter, God certainly leads His people to different decisions. God didn't call all the students to leave and serve, He called some, and the others He called to stay and continue their education.
When it comes to our money and resources, what Randy is trying to communicate is to be open to the needs of the people today (the poor, the hungry and needy) and use the resources God has blessed us with to help best meet those needs. Is there a place for long term savings? Yes. As it says in Proverbs 21:20:
"In the house of the wise are stores of choice food and oil, but a foolish man devours all he has."
