Elam Ministries: a vision for Iran's people
America needs no words from me to see how your decision in Roe vs. Wade has deformed a great nation. ...It has portrayed the greatest of gifts—a child—as a competitor, an intrusion and an inconvenience.
—Mother Teresa
No individual living body can "become" a person unless it already is a person. No living being can become anything other than what it already essentially is.
—Dr. Thomas Hilgers
We are already witnessing the erosion of our idea of man as something splendid or divine, as a creature with freedom and dignity. And clearly, if we come to see ourselves as meat, then meat we shall become.
—Dr. Leon Kass
You are a special creation of a good and all powerful God. You are the climax of His creation, the magnum opus of the greatest Artist in the universe.
—Randy Alcorn
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Celebrating Sanctity of Human Life
January 18, 2009 is Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. This letter to EPM demonstrates the difference one church body can make in remembering children—both the unborn and the born.
Dear EPM,
Just a short note to let you know that our church recognized (for the first time in our 9-year history!) Sanctity of Human Life Day on Sunday, January 20, 2008. We are a small fellowship of about 150 located in Virginia. Thank you so much for making your book Why Pro-Life? available at such a discounted cost. We were able to give out 24 copies free of charge.
We also took an alms offering and collected $300.00 which will be donated to the Liberty Godparent Home in Lynchburg, VA in memory of a faithful member of our church who went to be with the Lord last year.
We adopted our youngest son from the Godparent Home in 2005 (he is now 2). We also have two other children who are 10 and 11 that we adopted in 2001. Thank you so much for your ministry and for helping our church realize the importance of caring for the unborn and their mothers. —M.C.

Elam Ministries: a vision for Iran's people
Earlier this year, Kathy Norquist, Randy Alcorn's executive assistant, met with David Yeghnazar, the U.S. director of Elam Ministries, and one of their church planters from Iran. Elam's vision is that all the people of the Iran Region would have the opportunity to come to know the Lord Jesus Christ and follow Him as disciples, and that they would be instrumental in taking the Gospel to other Muslims.
Iranians are very open to the Gospel. More have become Christians in the last 25 years than in the previous 1,300 years since Islam took over Iran. It used to be the norm for families and communities to ostracize people who became Christians. Sometimes new believers were even attacked or killed. But now the church is growing through families.
God is powerfully at work in Iran, despite the opposition Christians face. Persecution of believers could increase even more in the coming months as the Iranian Parliament is about to pass a law making it a criminal offense to leave Islam and become a Christian. But the church remains bold and courageous.
"The visiting Iranian ministry worker shared this observation: ‘In Iran, Jesus is everything. In America, Jesus is one part of many things,'" Kathy said. "What a joy and privilege it was to be with these dear brothers in Christ."
David asked for prayer for protection and wisdom for the ministry as they seek to strengthen and expand the church in Iran. To learn more about Elam Ministries, visit their website. |
