What resources would you recommend on the issue of teaching creationism in public schools? We are preparing for some pretty heavy community discussions on the subject in wake of our school board firing a teacher for presenting creationism in a critical thinking class. He says he did not teach creationism, merely suggested the students look into the subject and gave resources. I am trying to find some good reading material on the subject.

I would go to some of the intelligent design books. Here are the ones that come to mind. I would make a list of these and encourage people to read them. I’d also encourage them to see the DVDs on intelligent design, such as Where Does the Evidence Lead? and The Privileged Planet, which both contain brief segments in which top scientists are interviewed about intelligent design.

Here are some of the authors and resources I’d recommend:

Darwin’s Black Box, a New York Times bestseller, by Michael Behe

Darwin on Trial by Phillip E. Johnson

Mere Creation: Science, Faith, and Intelligent Design by William Dembski

Evolution: A Theory in Crisis by Michael Denton

The Case for a Creator by Lee Strobel

God and the Astronomers, Second Edition, by Robert Jastrow

Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed (DVD) by Ben Stein

The Privileged Planet (DVD) by Discovery Institute

Unlocking the Mystery of Live (DVD) by Illustra Media
