What are your views on Israel?

I’m very pro-Israel, believing that God has a future purpose for the nation and that the U.S. should remain her steadfast ally.

That doesn’t mean I believe the current nation of Israel, with its secular government, does everything right, and I think like every nation, including ours, it should be subject to evaluation and criticism. I am sympathetic to Palestinian Christians I’ve met, and their desire to live somewhere in peace and freedom. However, I definitely believe the land belongs to Israel irrevocably, and that Israel holds a special place in God’s heart and plan.

I do believe that Jewish people, like all others, need to come to faith in Christ to be saved. I’ve visited Israel twice. I spoke at the Christian Embassy’s Feast of Tabernacles celebration some years ago, and on another trip to a messianic congregation. I did have a discussion and disagreement with a Christian in Jerusalem who believed Jewish people were saved under the law, and did not need to embrace Jesus as their Savior and Lord. Certainly I believe the gospel is for all, for the Jew first, then the Gentile. I think it is a grave disservice to the Jewish people to not bring the gospel to them, with sensitivity and grace.
