As I’ve often said, A. W. Tozer is one of my favorite all-time authors. I love what he says here, and what I also love is that elsewhere He affirms God’s holiness, justice and wrath in uncompromising ways, then gives us this beautiful depiction of God’s love for His children, and His delight in us
A.W. Tozer has had a great impact on my life. When I was asked to contribute to this book, Inspired by Tozer, I gladly agreed to do so. You may want to take a look at it.

A.W. Tozer (1897–1963) has been one of the great influences on my life since I was a new believer, as a teenager. I fed on Tozer as a young Christian, and still today God speaks to me through his writing.
A.W. Tozer was one of the writers (along with C.S. Lewis and Francis Schaeffer) who had the most profound impact on me as a young Christian, and he continues to do so. I appreciated this reminder from him that pride is delusional. And it’s never in our best interests.
A. W. Tozer wrote "Every soul belongs to God, and exists by His pleasure. God being who and what He is and we being who and what we are, the only thinkable relation between us is one of full Lordship on His part and complete submission on ours."
Psalm 1 says this:
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers [Paraphrase: Blessed is the man who does not so abide in his culture that the ways of his culture abide ...
A. W. Tozer is one of my all-time favorite authors. In The Pursuit of God, Tozer writes this:
As the sailor locates his position on the sea by “shooting” the sun, so we may get our moral bearings by looking at God. We must begin with God. We are right when and only when we stand in a right position relative to God, and we are wrong so far and so long as we stand in any other position.

Books and bookstores have had an enormous influence on my own life. I came to Christ as a teenager, at Powell Valley Covenant Church in Gresham, less than a mile from where I live now. My first youth pastor, Paul Siwick, did me a huge favor—he gave me a key to his office, so I could go in any time and read his books, hundreds of them. I read everything I could get my hands on.
When I'm asked what writers had the most profound influence on me as a young Christian, I always say there were three, and they continue to influence me today: C. S. Lewis, A. W. Tozer and Francis Schaeffer. In past months I’ve written about the subject of desire and longing in Augustine, Pascal and C. S. Lewis. Today I want to share from Tozer.
Tozer’s The Knowledge of the Holy, a fabulous book on the attributes of God, is my favorite nonfiction book of all time. I’ll talk about it another time.
