Randy Alcorn's Blog: abortion

Election 2012, Part 2: Which Candidate Will Best Protect Religious Liberties?

Religious libertiesThis blog is about religious liberties. I believe where the next president stands on this issue will profoundly influence the culture in which our children and grandchildren will live. Will they be free to live out their religious convictions, even when unpopular, without being punished?

Shouldn’t we care about other social injustices besides abortion?

Precious in His sightI think people are creating an artificial distinction because they feel that whenever you talk about one social evil and injustice, you are obligated to list every other one. I don’t agree with that. And I don’t appreciate the fact that this is seldom done with other injustices, but is routinely done with abortion.

Questions for Our Pro-Abortion Friends, Church Leaders, and Politicians

Kevin DeYoung is a sharp young pastor and writer who I greatly appreciate. This blog is worth reading and contemplating.

Get Ready for Christians Going to Jail

PrisonTwenty-three years ago when I was going to jail for civil disobedience, a pastor told me he believed Christians shouldn’t go to jail. I told him I thought the day would come when he would go to jail, not for refusing to go along with abortion, but for refusing to go along with homosexuality.

George Verwer: Prolife Hero

George VerwerI have the greatest appreciation for George Verwer, founder of Operation Mobilization (OM) and an advocate for worldwide missions. Some years ago George contacted me, saying God had laid on his heart the plight of unborn children. I was grateful to hear this, but wasn’t sure whether this vision would last given the fact that many people, Christians included, object to hearing about it. Well, George is a man who listens to God rather than voices that don’t tolerate speakers who address abortion.

The Master’s Touch: Paintings by Ron DiCianni

Before I Knew YouI first met artist Ron DiCianni many years ago at the Christian Bookseller’s Convention (now called ICRS). He has become a good friend over the years, and I thank God for a brother who uses his gifts well.

Recently Ron completed a new painting titled Before I Formed You in the Womb…, inspired by Jeremiah 1:5.

Will we intervene for the least of these?

Unborn childA pastor once shared a heartbreaking story about a post-abortive woman he had counseled. As she was leaving his office, he said “Can I ask you a question? If there would have been anyone outside the clinic when you went to get your abortion, what would you have done?” She said that before she left her house she had decided that if there was anyone standing outside the clinic in opposition, she wouldn’t go ahead with the abortion. Tragically, there was no one there.

Voting as a Way to Help the Unborn

Oregon 2012As people repeatedly state, abortion is NOT the only issue. However, I believe that because God hates the shedding of innocent blood, and has a special love for the most vulnerable and defenseless children, abortion is the single most important issue facing this country.

Don’t Throw the Preborn Baby out with the Bath Water

UnbornDiane Meyer is a close friend of mine and my wife, Nanci. When Diane told me about her experience at the Justice Conference, I asked her if she would write this guest blog. This is a sister in Christ who knows what she’s talking about. I encourage you to listen. —Randy Alcorn

Dan Franklin on the Growing Consistency of the Pro-Choice Position

ConsistencyRecently my son-in-law Dan Franklin, married to my daughter Karina, wrote a very insightful article on his Facebook page. Dan is the teaching pastor at Life Bible Fellowship in Upland, California. Dan takes a fresh slant on new developments in the abortion debate.
