Randy Alcorn's Blog: eternity

It’s No Accident You Live in This Time and Place

WalletWhen the following was posted last month on the Desiring God blog, written by Michael Oh, I was very touched by it. Read it, ponder it, pray over it. In case God speaks to your heart about giving, I’ve included a few ministries you may wish to invest in, an investment which will pay off for eternity.

Resolved Conference 2008, Palm Springs

Resolved Conference

Two weeks ago this moment, Nanci and I were flying home after the Resolved Conference in Palm Springs. Coming back to a green Oregon summer was nice after it hit 115 degrees in Palm Springs.

Creator and Culture, and Anticipating a Redeemed Earth

poppiesA Christian I met in passing once told me it troubled him that he really didn’t long for Heaven. Instead, he yearned for an Earth that was like God meant it to be.

99 Balloons: Celebrating the Life of Eliot Mooney

Eliot MooneyThis is a story that I heard, but wanted more details on, so asked Stephanie to find them. I think you will be as touched by it as I was.

I first learned of Eliot Mooney maybe a year ago, but when someone else forwarded the video again recently, I thought it was time to feature it on this blog.

Christian the Lion: A Foreshadow of People and Animals on God’s New Earth

Christian the Lion

You may have seen the video of Christian the Lion being reunited with two men who raised him as a cub. If you haven't, you're in for a treat. And if you have, you may want to watch again.

Video of Elizabeth Wall: Way Bigger than her Cystic Fibrosis

Elizabeth WallSince many have told me how much they appreciated the video with Christian the Lion, I'm going to do something a little different over the next 12 days or so. I'll post four videos that I think will be well worth your time. I'll put them in four separate blogs.

A Breath of Fresh Air, God’s Common Grace

giftIf you haven’t seen this video, it’ll make your day. I just watched it again as I took a brief break from final revisions on my book.

Think of it as God’s common grace at work in this world.

A Tribute to My Mother

Lucille AlcornThis year in October (2009), it will be twenty-eight years since my mom died of cancer. Our Angela was only four months old then, so while Mom held Angie and fawned over her and loved her dearly, Angie wasn't old enough yet to understand what had happened. Sometimes I think how wonderful it will be one day for Angie and her grandmother to get to know each other.

Aggie Hurst: A Story of Eternal Perspective

While we were unable to find any real pictures of Aggie or her family, I hope this story of God's faithfulness through the sacrifice of missionary couple David and Svea Flood will inspire you.

ZambiaI've been thinking of it in context of a big book I'm writing on the problem of evil and suffering. How many times has God had a purpose in events that seemed senseless at the time they happened? How many things that seem pointless now will later be seen to have a divine point?

Consider Joseph and his brothers who horribly betrayed him ...

Heaven Small Group DVD

crew pointingA year ago July, I blogged about the days of filming I did for a new DVD about Heaven. That small group DVD, which is a seven-week discussion guide designed for the book Heaven.
