How You View a Parachute Makes All the Difference in Whether You’re Grateful for It

ParachuteRay Comfort tells a memorable story that illustrates the difference between trusting Christ to make this life more pleasant, and trusting Him to deliver us from Hell so that we can enjoy Heaven with him forever.

Prolife Ministry Is a Door to Share the Gospel

Holding the worldThis two-minute video is from Life International, a prolife ministry that views the global issues created by abortion as a mission field. The video ties the abortion issue to the gospel, which I really like. It’s great for your own information, or possibility for using at your church. I really like that abortion isn’t made to feel like an add-on issue, but that it naturally connects with people’s need for the gospel.

October Giveaway: Share Christ with Grace and Truth This Halloween

GiveawayI’m Stephanie, the promotions director at EPM, and I wanted to share this month’s giveaway on Randy’s blog. One question that Randy is asked from time to time is, “What do you think about Halloween?” This is a tough question to answer for many Christians, especially for those who are parents of young children.

Q&A: How can I be better prepared for evangelism?

Lord Foulgrin's Letters

I was recently asked the following question on Facebook:
"I had a woman come to my door today, wanting to share the gospel. Why is it that even though I know what I believe and why I believe it, that it is so hard to share with others? She was a Jehovah's Witness, and asked if she could come back to share a scripture again. I told her yes. I will be better prepared next time, but how do I become better prepared?"

In Letter 30 of Lord Foulgrin's Letters, I have one demon instructing another one how to keep a Christian from sharing the gospel...

The Story of One Man's Faithful Service to Christ

open bookThere are many stories of men who faithfully served Jesus and shared the gospel, despite never seeing any of the fruit from his efforts for many years.

While we may never seem to see any results from serving the Lord here on Earth, Malachi 3:16-18 is a remarkable passage that tells us God is watching and is documenting the faithful deeds of his children on Earth: “Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honored ...

Sharing the Gospel in Portland's Pioneer Courthouse Square

Ron and KarenThirty years ago, Ron Rohman began preaching in front of the old Pioneer Courthouse at SW Fifth and Morrison streets in downtown Portland, Oregon. Now that their children are grown, his wife Karen (pictured here with Ron) has joined him in his ministry, which they call intercessory evangelism. Today they witness together in Pioneer Courthouse Square, the "Living Room" of Portland.

When I first met Ron twenty-one years ago I wasn't sure what to think of him. Within a year or two, I became sure. I love this brother and his wife, and I thank God for the faithful ...

The JESUS Film: "Show it Again"

One of my favorite ministries is the JESUS film project, which I have personally witnessed at work in powerful ways in China, Cambodia and Mexico. (More about that later in this blog.)

Every word in the film is from the gospel of Luke, and it includes at the end an invitation to receive Christ. In countries with low literacy, people can't read the Bible even if it's been translated into their language; but all of them can understand the JESUS Film, which is Scripture on a screen, God made visible. I read an amazing story from the JESUS ...

Are you Willing to be Hated for Speaking the Gospel Truth?

crossWhen Gianna Jessen spoke at our church a few weeks ago, she said many memorable things. The one that I've been thinking about is that to be a follower of Christ you need to be willing to be hated.

I agree, and that's what I want to talk about. Of course, this does NOT mean being hateful. Nor does it mean seeking to be hated. Or having a persecution complex, so you think people don’t like you because you’re following Christ, when they actually don’t like you because you’re an idiot.

I am all ...

Evel Knievel, Childhood Memories and Good News

A Christianity Today article by Troy Anderson, "A New Day for Apologetics," talked about the resurgence of Christian apologetics.

But what caught my eye was a part of the story that talked about Evel Knievel, the daredevil whose bizarre accomplishments first came to my attention as a grade school student, in The Weekly Reader.

World Evangelism Statistics, and Missions Giving

worldI'm not a big statistics guy, but sometimes statistics can be revealing.

The following statistics are from the book 2020 Vision, by Bill and Amy Stearns.
