While visiting friends in Texas last week, Nanci and I saw Kirk Cameron’s documentary Monumental. We found it interesting, inspiring, and very well done. It’s very engaging, and tells an important story.
In many conversations over the last few years I’ve said to people, “If God had given me a vote on whether or not there is a hell, honestly I would have voted against it. But that is not a point of pride, it is a confession."
I spoke about Mark Galli’s God Wins in the previous blog. (The ebook is now available on Amazon.) Today I’ll deal with Francis Chan’s Erasing Hell, another response to Rob Bell’s Love Wins. Then I’ll compare Chan’s book to Galli’s.
Francis Chan is addressing the Hell debate, an ancient controversy sparked again recently by Rob Bell’s Love Wins. (See my previous blog posts on Love Wins.) I deeply appreciate Francis Chan. He’s the real deal. I love his heart and his head and his books and his life.
I think it’s fine and appropriate to quote from Christian speakers and authors we have benefited from. But while gratefully acknowledging I have benefited from these men and women, I do not put them on a pedestal.
As I shared with those on Facebook, Nanci and I had an amazing few days at the Desiring God conference in Minneapolis. Francis Chan's message on Saturday night was anointed by God.
Okay, there is no reason for me to post this except that I want to. And I believe that God made us to laugh.
