Randy Alcorn's Blog: j.i. packer

The Elements in True Reformation

J.I. PackerIn his excellent (though unlikely titled) book Hot Tub Religion, J. I. Packer asks “What would a work of divine reformation in our churches today look like?” Great question, and I loved the six answers Packer—one of my all- time favorite people—offers.

The Gift and Task of Sanctification

J.I. PackerI always enjoy J.I. Packer. I read this in his book Great Joy, and as I meditated on it, I thought of Colossians 1:29: "For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me."

J.I. Packer and a Tale of a Typewriter

Randy Alcorn and J.I. PackerJ.I. Packer, author of Evangelism and the Sovereignty of God and other classics, is one of my favorite writers. God has used his book Knowing God in my life profoundly. It is still one of my top five books of all time.

Christian Book Expo, and "Stunned by J.I. Packer"

Tullian and Harris boysSunday night Nanci and I returned from the Christian Book Expo in Dallas where I did a number of book signings, and was involved in three upfront presentations/panels. The World of Christian Books and Writers

John KohlenbergerI got back late last week from the annual Christian Booksellers convention. Always in July, it’s normally in a hot, sweaty southern city. This year was Atlanta, next year is Orlando. We haven’t been back to Dallas since it hit 120 degrees several years ago. Now if we could only have it in Portland or Seattle…. Anyway, I’m going to spend a couple blogs talking about it.

The convention was called CBA until a few years ago, when they changed it to ICRS, the International Christian Retail Show. Thousands of people attend. Every year I meet interesting people and renew my friendships with several hundred people who are booksellers, writers and publishers. Many of these I see only at ICRS.
