Why the Hobby Lobby Case Matters

Hobby LobbyKevin DeYoung is a pastor and an excellent writer. His blog is one of my favorites. I’ve talked about the Hobby Lobby case before, but asked Kevin’s permission to repost his blog:

Why You Should Care About the Hobby Lobby Case—And Be Alarmed

Discovering The Hole in Our Holiness

The Hole in Our HolinessHoliness was once a central component of following Christ. But for many today, the Christian life is little more than a celebration of cheap grace and pseudo-liberty, with a high tolerance for sin. In this well-written and much-needed book, Kevin DeYoung thoughtfully points us to an unpopular yet strangely liberating truth—that God is holy and expects us to be holy.

Questions for Our Pro-Abortion Friends, Church Leaders, and Politicians

Kevin DeYoung is a sharp young pastor and writer who I greatly appreciate. This blog is worth reading and contemplating.

Why Should We Believe in a Historical Adam?

A historical AdamLast month Kevin DeYoung posted an excellent blog called “10 Reasons to Believe in a Historical Adam.” I can’t say enough about the importance of this subject. Everywhere I turn, including on the campuses of many Christian liberal arts colleges, I see the drift away from believing in an historical Adam and Eve.

The History, Memories, and Nostalgia of “Real Books”

BooksI thought Kevin DeYoung’s post about “real books” (which I’ve included part of below) was interesting. I enjoy reading on my Kindle and iPad, and I love eBooks, and haven’t given up on them, and doubt I ever will. But I still buy more printed ones, especially for research.

Should We Be Against Hell or in Favor of It?

VoteIn many conversations over the last few years I’ve said to people, “If God had given me a vote on whether or not there is a hell, honestly I would have voted against it. But that is not a point of pride, it is a confession."

Patriotism and the Church?

FlagI realize this will not be well-received by people on both sides of this issue (which may be partly why I like it), but Kevin DeYoung’s thoughts on patriotism and church capture almost perfectly my own. That doesn’t make them right, but it does mean that I’m going to highly recommend you read this whole article.

Why Are We So Offended All the Time?

Why We're Not EmergentWhat follows is a spot-on article by Kevin DeYoung, a pastor and writer. While it was written after the flap about Brit Hume, making that aspect of it dated, it is timeless at its core, and I just “happened” upon it (in the providence of God). I met Kevin a couple of years ago and had only a brief conversation and an email exchange. But I love his books, Why We're Not Emergent (By Two Guys Who Should Be), and Why We Love the Church: In Praise of Institutions and Organized Religion, both written with Ted Kluck, as well as Just Do Something: A Liberating Approach to Finding God's Will and The Good News We Almost Forgot: Rediscovering the Gospel in a 16th-Century Catechism.
