Bert Elliot: A faithful star, rising night after night for Christ

Bert and Colleen ElliotMissionary Bert Elliot (brother of martyred missionary Jim Elliot) went home to be with Jesus last Friday. Nanci and I met Bert and his wife Colleen in January 2006, which marked the fiftieth anniversary of the martyrdom of the five missionaries in Ecuador.

George Verwer: Prolife Hero

George VerwerI have the greatest appreciation for George Verwer, founder of Operation Mobilization (OM) and an advocate for worldwide missions. Some years ago George contacted me, saying God had laid on his heart the plight of unborn children. I was grateful to hear this, but wasn’t sure whether this vision would last given the fact that many people, Christians included, object to hearing about it. Well, George is a man who listens to God rather than voices that don’t tolerate speakers who address abortion.

The Least of These: Street Children

ChildrenToday we’re launching a new blog series (every few weeks we’ll share a post) that addresses social justice issues that affect the most vulnerable people in the world today. Each blog will focus on a specific, often overlooked, people group in need both physically and spiritually.

Negativism and Doctrinal Drift among Some in World Missions

Out of the Comfort ZoneGeorge Verwer, a man I dearly love and respect, and one of the great global missions leaders in church history as well as a champion for the unborn, has rewritten and updated a chapter from his book Out of the Comfort Zone. Here’s a portion from that chapter. Listen to our brother George, who has earned like few others the right to be heard in world missions.

A Child’s Life-Saving Heart Surgery

ChangpiOne of the ministries EPM supports is Action International. Devendra and Koko Rai work with Action in India, and in November, Devendra sent out a prayer request for the daughter of an Indian pastor.  Changpi (who turned 7 on December 8) was diagnosed with a hole in her heart that created complications in her liver.
