The Gospel of John may be my favorite Bible movie of all-time. It came in under the radar, and many people still haven't heard of it, much less seen it. Yet it's in many ways the most endearing and personal portrayal of Jesus, and above all it's faithful to the text of Scripture. It combines narration with dialogue and action.
Check out this trailer for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, which will be released on December 10. What do you think of the trailer?
Earlier this month I said yes to writing a novel based on the screenplay of the new movie Courageous. Both the movie and novel will be released a year from now. The movie is being done by the Kendrick brothers, Stephen and Alex (pictured with me on the right), who produced Facing the Giants and Fireproof, and will be distributed by Sony.
This is a new trailer for the movie Courageous, which I’ve been writing the novel Courageous to correspond to. There are some great action scenes and humorous moments, as well as heart-touching themes related to courageous fatherhood.
Fathers are their children’s first pastors—the most influential humans in terms of life direction. Children are shaped by their father’s love or hate, interest or disinterest, presence or absence.
Some months ago I was contacted by Time magazine reporter Tim Newcomb, who asked me a number of questions about the Courageous movie and the novel. Tim’s final article was just published on Time’s online magazine.
Every novelist knows that movies don’t just have plots, they have themes. And in the exploration of those themes there is inevitably a message, whether or not it is carefully crafted. The message may be that life is random, pointless, hopeless, chaotic, cruel, or that it is full of both good and bad, and that even in the bad there can be ultimate purpose and meaning.

The Courageous movie opens in theaters this Friday, September 30. Please pray for the impact of the movie and go see it this opening weekend, Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The more people show up opening weekend, the longer it will stay in the theaters and the more lives it will touch!

In honor of the Courageous movie being released in theaters, this weekend we're giving away six signed copies of the bestselling Courageous novel, which includes photos from the movie. Will you be going to see the movie this weekend?
