Randy Alcorn's Blog: movies

Craig Groeschel on the Big &%#*! Deal about Profanity

ProfanityI have had the exact experience Craig Groeschel is talking about in his excellent blog post “What’s the Big &%#*! Deal about Profanity?”: Christians enthusiastically recommending movies without qualification. I have learned to NEVER watch a movie based on someone’s recommendation.

Evaluating Movies in Light of Scripture

Movie theaterOn my Facebook page, someone asked: "Randy, you often mention that you and Nanci have been to a movie. I'm curious about what kind and rating of movies you attend. I'm interested in how you regard the type of movie (violence, sexual overtones, etc.). Should Christians knowingly attend such films? This of course also applies to TV programs."

A few thoughts about popular movies

I know, we’re supposed to pretend that movies have no influence on us, or our children. That way we can be cool and go with the popular drift of culture and prove that not all Christians are uptight and moralistic.

Another "Outside the Box" Prolifer

Gary GrahamA friend recently sent me a link to a strong prolife blog post written by someone I would call an "outside the box" prolifer, in Hollywood. I've often said that one of my favorite prolifers of all time is Nat Hentoff, atheist editor of the Village Voice. Nobody could write him off as a conservative Sunday School teacher. This guy doesn’t fit the image either.
