Years ago, I determined that I wanted to write a book on the importance of gratitude in the Christian life. But not long ago I read Nancy Leigh DeMoss’s book Choosing Gratitude and realized I no longer needed to!
Holiness was once a central component of following Christ. But for many today, the Christian life is little more than a celebration of cheap grace and pseudo-liberty, with a high tolerance for sin. In this well-written and much-needed book, Kevin DeYoung thoughtfully points us to an unpopular yet strangely liberating truth—that God is holy and expects us to be holy.
I think of how God had his hand on my life long before I was in high school, when I read for the first time a book that really captivated me...the Bible. That Book came alive to me when I met the Author, who soon became my best friend. Can't wait for all the adventures He has awaiting us, His children, in the new universe.
Books and bookstores have had an enormous influence on my own life. I came to Christ as a teenager, at Powell Valley Covenant Church in Gresham, less than a mile from where I live now. My first youth pastor, Paul Siwick, did me a huge favor—he gave me a key to his office, so I could go in any time and read his books, hundreds of them. I read everything I could get my hands on.

When I was researching Heaven, I read 150 volumes on the subject, many long out-of-print. Since the book came out I’ve read a dozen more.
Recently I was asked to recommend some books for a pastor in his twenties to read. Most of these books can be purchased from a Christian bookstore or ordered from www.christianbook.com.
I've recently been reading G. K. Chesterton's book Orthodoxy and his little book on St. Thomas Aquinas.
Also, I've read several books on intelligent design, by Johnson and Dembski, and Stephen Meyer’s excellent Signature in the Cell, regarding DNA and its incredible complexity.
