Randy Alcorn's Blog: video

Babies on Skates

Okay, there is no reason for me to post this except that I want to. And I believe that God made us to laugh.

By the way, Christianaudio.com is offering Crazy Love by Francis Chan as their free audiobook download this month. I am listening to this now and really enjoying it. This is a product well worth the usual price, but it’s an amazing value at no cost!

Phil Vischer’s “What's in the Bible?” DVDs

What's in the Bible? While on a recent family vacation I pulled out an advance DVD of the first episodes of Phil Vischer’s “What’s in the Bible” (whatsinthebible.com). I asked my five-year-old grandson Matthew Franklin if he wanted to watch something by the guy who created VeggieTales. Of course he did. So we watched it together, and watched it again the next day and the next, bonus features and all, until the day we had to leave. Matthew is now a devoted fan of Buck Denver and the other characters who are part of this new series which I believe has great potential.

Video Q&A: Randy, when did you put your faith in Christ?

Randy Alcorn videoI grew up without Christ and without the church. When I was in high school I attended a church for the wrong reason—to see a girl I'd met. But God can use even our wrong motives for his right purposes. (In fact, years later that girl became my wife!) At that church and in the youth group there, I heard the gospel for the first time.

Andrea Bocelli tells a "fairy tale" about abortion

Here’s a video I just watched that speaks for itself, in any language:

So what do you guys do at EPM?

Guest post from Kathy Norquist, Randy's executive assistant.

LettersSince we get asked this question from time to time, and because we’re celebrating our 20th anniversary this year, we thought it might be fun to give you a sneak peek into the daily happenings at Eternal Perspective Ministries. Much of our time is taken up connecting with people through email, phone calls, and snail mail. They may want to order books, tell us how God has used a book in their life, ask a question related to an issue Randy writes and speaks about, or inquire about his availability for a speaking engagement or phone conversation.

Ask Randy: Looking for Your Questions

microphoneThose of you who enjoy the resources from Desiring God (a site we highly recommend) are probably familiar with “Ask Pastor John”, where John Piper answers questions on video. That’s our inspiration for this feature: we’re inviting those of you who read Randy’s blog to submit your question for him in a comment on this post. We’ll choose three of those questions

Beautiful in Its Time: A Story of Perception

Joshua BellI think the following story (which we double-checked and appears to be true), along with the video, has particular significance for us as Christians. Before you watch the video and read the story, consider Ecclesiastes 3:11, “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end."

How can you have assurance of your own salvation?

assurance of salvationAnother question a reader asked me on my blog was this: Even though I gave my heart to the Lord a long time ago, I always struggle with thoughts that when I die, I will find I am not saved. That produces a lot of fear. I know the Bible says to believe, but how do you know what is really in your heart, since only God can see and know what is in our hearts?

How do I minister to an unsaved friend whose loved one died without a relationship with Christ?

Unsaved friendIn today’s blog, I’m answering one final question that was asked by a reader:

How would you respond and minister to unsaved friends or family (or even strangers) who have lost a loved one and assume their lost loved one is in Heaven, even though that person clearly did not have a relationship with Jesus Christ?

Useful Dog Tricks

JesseNanci and I really enjoyed this video. Yes, predictably, it involves a dog! Great music, too. I’m sure there are a lot of wives and moms who could wish their husbands and children would learn to do these things around the house (Nanci lovingly mentioned my habit of not closing drawers.)
