Randy Alcorn's Blog: video

Does being like Jesus mean not talking about Hell?

Christ says the unsaved “will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matthew 8:12). These days you’ll often hear people say something like, “Instead of condemning people and threatening them with Hell, we should be like Jesus and love them.”

A Sea Turtle Video

Sea Turtle

I love sea turtles. Some of my greatest memories are hanging out with turtles while snorkeling or diving. Here’s an entertaining 44-second video of a turtle with an apparent taste for the camera.

The Problem with Christoplatonism

The false assumptions of Christoplatonism, compared to Genesis 1:31: And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good

Christoplatonism—there’s a word that you don’t hear every day. It’s actually a word that I made up (probably the only word I’ve ever made up!) and used in my comprehensive Heaven book to speak of the Christianized philosophy of Plato.

How do I respond with grace and truth if I’m invited to a gay wedding?

Love rejoices with the truth (1 Corinthians 13:6)Many people wonder, “What if I’m invited to a gay wedding?” In the following video and transcript, I share some thoughts.

All Men Seek Happiness

All men seek happiness. - Blaise Pascal

Blaise Pascal wrote this, and I think it’s very insightful:

All men seek happiness. This is without exception. Whatever different means they employ, they all tend to this end.

The Romantic Rationalist: God, Life, and Imagination in the Work of C.S. Lewis

The Romantic Rationalist: God, Life, and Imagination in the Work of C.S. Lewis

No writer has had greater impact on me than C. S. Lewis. I find both his fiction and nonfiction to be penetrating and life-shaping. That’s one of the reasons I’m excited to be speaking at this year’s Desiring God National Conference, “The Romantic Rationalist: God, Life, and Imagination in the Work of C.S. Lewis,” in Minneapolis, Minnesota on September 27-29.

Christian Universalism

We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:20There’s a movement among Christians today towards what’s called Christian Universalism. It’s a belief that everybody ultimately will be saved—there will be no Hell, or at some point Hell will be depopulated and everyone will live forever with Christ in Heaven. It’s a wonderful thought. But does the Bible really teach it?

My Thoughts on “The Disappearing Book”

I am absolutely convinced that the books one reads possibly help mold one’s life more purposefully and eternally than we ever realize. —Ravi ZachariasA lot of people have asked me my thoughts about the possible “disappearance” of physical books, due to the fact there are all the different eReaders people are now reading on: the Kindle, the iPad, the Nook, and others.

Sports and the Christian Life

Sports and the Christian: "Do all to the glory of God"1 Corinthians 10:31 tells us, “When you eat or drink, whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” If you watch or participate in sports, do it for the glory of God.

Happy Mother’s Day to My Wife Nanci and Our Daughters Karina and Angie

Alcorn familyI am deeply grateful to the Lord for my wife Nanci and for our daughters Karina and Angie! Nanci is a great mom, and a fantastic grandma. I look at Karina and Angie now as moms who are in their thirties—the mothers of my grandsons—and I am just delighted to see their hearts for Christ and the ways God has gifted them.
