Thoughts about John Lennon, his Death, and the Ray Comfort video Genius

John LennonDecember 8 is the anniversary of John Lennon’s death. He died 32 years ago. I’m going to end by linking you to a fascinating new video that talks about John Lennon and much more. But first, some thoughts about him.

Do you believe a person can be a practicing homosexual and be saved?

Do I believe a Christian can sin, and even live in sin for a time? Yes. Do I believe that a Christian can be disobedient to God? Of course. But I would say that homosexual relations are an abomination to God.

How can some good, moral people not accept Christ and go to Hell, while other sinful people convert and go to Heaven?

Question from a reader:

A friend has asked me this question: How is it that someone who lives a good and moral life will go to Hell while another person who has lived a very sinful life, but repents at the last moment, will go to Heaven? Can you help me know how to explain the answer?

How You View a Parachute Makes All the Difference in Whether You’re Grateful for It

ParachuteRay Comfort tells a memorable story that illustrates the difference between trusting Christ to make this life more pleasant, and trusting Him to deliver us from Hell so that we can enjoy Heaven with him forever.

Response to the Idea that God Forgives a Child Killer

PrisonYears ago, I wrote an article about Westley Allen Dodd, a man who was executed in 1993 for torturing, raping and murdering three young boys in Vancouver, Washington, about twenty minutes from where I live

Even though you are writing for a Christian audience, how do you craft your message in an attempt to reach non-Christians?

When I wrote Deception, the spiritual themes are interwoven into the central plot, the murder mystery. Ollie’s recognition that everything is not as it appears applies not only to the murder, but to the larger issues of his life.

In writing Deception, how did you hope to connect with readers who are non-believers?

The main character, Ollie Chandler, is an unbeliever. He blames a God he’s not sure exists for the loss of his wife to cancer; he’s haunted by the death of another loved one; and he’s alienated from his grown daughters.

What kind of response have you gotten from unsaved readers who have read your murder mysteries?

I remember various secular media interviews where they couldn’t figure out how a murder mystery could have a spiritual theme! They would say things like wow, that was an interesting story, and….that other-worldly stuff was…well, it was different, wasn’t it?

A Story of Rescue in Japan

JapanAs I’m sure many of you are, Nanci and I have been burdened for the people of Japan. We’ve been praying for people there, especially the believers, that the gospel could be spread in the midst of devastation.

With so many heartbreaking reports of death and loss, this news story telling the rescue of a baby girl is a wonderful glimpse of God’s mercy and saving grace.

How can you have assurance of your own salvation?

assurance of salvationAnother question a reader asked me on my blog was this: Even though I gave my heart to the Lord a long time ago, I always struggle with thoughts that when I die, I will find I am not saved. That produces a lot of fear. I know the Bible says to believe, but how do you know what is really in your heart, since only God can see and know what is in our hearts?
