E-News Update
December 2007
Welcome
to the December issue
of the EPM E-News Update!
We hope that during this holiday
season and into the new year you'll be able to resonate with
the words of King David in 1 Chronicles 29:14: "But who am
I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as
generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have
given you only what comes from your hand."

EPM Uses Candy Canes to Share Christ's Love with
Children
Children and candy canes recently provided the perfect opportunity
for the EPM staff to share the message of Christ in EPM's
hometown of Sandy, Oregon. The ministry sponsored a children's
craft table at Sandy's Community Christmas Event, where kids
made a candy cane ornament. They also received a tract explaining
its significance and copies of Randy's books that EPM gave
away.
"It was such a joy and privilege to serve the community of
Sandy," writes Linda Jeffries, ministry assistant to Randy
Alcorn. "Many of the families commented that they appreciated
the craft. Some didn't know the story of the candy cane, making
the craft more meaningful."
One young teen girl picked up Heaven for Kids and
asked what it was about. She seemed interested and took it.
The staff later found out she only sees her mom every other
year and doesn't have a stable home environment.
Please
pray for this young teen girl and other children who
picked up copies of Randy's books and tracts with the meaning
of the candy cane. It is our hope these kids and their families
would read what they received and know of Jesus' love
for them.

Becky
Nissen's charitable giving typically took
the form of writing checks.
And then she got a Christmas present—Randy Alcorn's
book The Treasure Principle: Discovering the
Secret of Joyful Giving— which sat on her nightstand
for six months. It was only when the 55-year-old fundraiser
was headed to India and had nothing to read that she halfheartedly
brought it along.
The words wedged in her heart and made her wonder whether
enough generosity dwelled there. She decided the answer was
no.
"In America, we have so much," she said, acknowledging
that while some go without food, she doesn't have to go hungry
for more than two hours. "I felt like I needed to share much
more of myself."
She sat with it for a while. She prayed about it. Then
she approached a good friend with an idea: What if they could
get a group of women together to pool their money for important
causes?
Ultimately, the idea grew into a group of 40 Tucson members—and
they've raised $40,000 this year for local and international
causes. Read

Randy's
Writings Around the World
David
from France left this comment on Randy's blog:
"Our
oldest Marissa (14 years old today) just read Deception.
Usually when we recommend a book to her she is a little leery...
But Sunday afternoon she picked up the book and by 11 p.m.
almost finished it! It was both exciting and spiritually
uplifting to her! Marissa is in Junior High here in France—it's
often rough for her to keep on for Jesus—but
books such as yours really contribute to her faith. Now
she wants to read Deadline and Dominion as
well! Praise God for the imagination, talent, and longing
for heaven He has given you."
EPM
had the privilege of sending Marissa some more reading material!
She sent us the following reply:
"This
is Marissa, the 14 yr old you sent the books to. I've finished
The Ishbane Conspiracy already and I can't say how
much it's helped me. It's great! I'll be delving into Dominion
and Deadline soon, and I KNOW they will be just as
great... Thank you very very very very much for
the books. I love them!"
