Waiting to Get Married?

“Should we get married?” Few questions deserve more careful attention. When dreamy-eyed recklessness yanks people into marriage, the end is often conflict, disillusionment, separation, and divorce, or at best, a second-rate marriage.

We are living beyond our means. What is your input on our financial situation?

We are going into debt several thousand dollars a year because we are living on equity from our home and only my income. My husband doesn’t seem concerned about getting a job or the fact that we are living beyond our means. What is your input on our financial situation?

What about same-sex married couples adopting?

First of all, as Christians we should be supporting and adopting needy children at home and abroad. We’re called to love our neighbor, and the most loving thing we can do for a child in need is placing them in a godly family where they will hear the gospel, grow in knowledge of God and His word, and experience unconditional love and support. What about unanswered prayer?

We must begin by recognizing that as long as God is God and we are his creatures, there must be some unanswered prayers. This is because God keeps hidden his own wise plans for the future, and even though people pray, many events will not come about until the time that God has decreed.

What advice would you give to people who are suffering and ask why they should desire Heaven when they feel they’re going through hell right now?

ReflectingThis world is the closest thing to heaven unbelievers will ever experience, and the closest thing to hell believers will ever know. The promise of Heaven, where there will be no more pain and sorrow and God will wipe away the tears from every eye (Revelation 21:4), should be a great encouragement to all Christians

What advice would you give to young people related to their friendships?

Choose your friends wisely. Don’t just let friendships happen by circumstance. Make them happen by choice—careful, thoughtful choice.

What are some criteria to use for choosing a Christian college or a secular university?

When our daughters were considering a college, we told them, “Judge everything you hear by the Word of God, like the Bereans in Acts 17:11.”
