The ACLU likes to come across as representing the interests of public citizens whose rights are supposedly violated when government or schools allow prayer, Bible reading or other free exercise of religion on their premises.
WHAT IS EDUCATION?
LEARNING: The process by which every person acquires a certain body of knowledge, and a corresponding set of personal values, attitudes, behavior, and skills.
STUDENT: A person with a highly impressionable mind, significantly affected by the knowledge, values, attitudes, and behaviors of others, especially by those in positions of authority.
I’ll begin with some important prefacing remarks. I am absolutely committed to the centrality of local churches in God’s kingdom agenda. Organizations such as EPM are secondary and supplemental to the work of local churches. I was a local church pastor for fourteen years and my heart will always be with the church. As a friend of mine puts it, “The church is God’s Plan A, and there is no Plan B.”

I am a newer believer and sometimes get frustrated over all of the different doctrines in various churches. Can you help me sort these out?
You are certainly not alone in wishing that various groups–you specifically highlighted liberals, orthodox, and fundamentalists–just put differences aside and get along. I will briefly look at these three groups and suggest why this may not be Biblically possible at this time in Kingdom history.
We have a natural desire to be independent, but we need godly church leaders, and should seek to find a local church that has godly leaders rather than to withdraw from churches.
Question from a reader:God is changing many perspectives in my life about Him and reality. He is basically opening my eyes to the fact that this world is not all there is, but there is a true spiritual battle going on. I’m looking for a new church. I believe I want to be somewhere where people are living in the reality of the spiritual realm and not just saying they believe it but then living like only this is realty. What cautions/advice do you have to offer?

I’ve heard negative things about Rick Warren and Saddleback Church, as well as Willow Creek Church and other seeker churches. What’s your opinion on this issue?
Attacking fellow Bible-believing Christians is becoming commonplace. Spreading inaccurate information is epidemic.
I have recently brought the subject of abortifacient birth control to the elders of my church; they are totally unaware of this and have asked me to pull together information for them. All my research has been the same across the board, denying the effect, except for this one pro-life Christian ministry, Baptists for Life. What do you guys say?
While we do not regard ourselves a charismatic church, we do not wish to be known as “anti-charismatic.” What we do insist upon is a spirit of love and unity, the total sufficiency of Christ, and the final authority of the Scriptures.
