If I had only Scripture to judge by I would assume it is a young Earth. If I had only science to judge by I would assume it is an old Earth. I know that the two can be reconciled but I'm not entirely convinced either way. I probably lean toward the young Earth in the belief that the assumptions guiding the testing of the Earth's age may be faulty (e.g. uniform rate of decay).
In my opinion, the Bible plainly teaches that God recently created everything in six literal days.
I wrote this dialogue a few years ago for my book Deadline, but it was nonessential, so I removed it, and it's never been published until now. I hope some readers will find the interaction between these two men stimulating and useful.
I do not know how many thousands of years old the earth is, but I don’t believe it is millions.
