Resources: Creation/Evolution

How can you state that macro-evolution does not exist, when you have also stated that micro-evolution does?

In the article “Ten Major Flaws of Evolution” you argue that “spontaneous generation” and “chemical evolution” are one in the same, however is DNA not made of the same basic “non-living” elements such as oxygen and phospherous, that you claim could not have “evolved” into living material? How can you state that macro-evolution does not exist, when you have also stated that micro-evolution does exist and has been observed? Would the first not be directly related to the latter?

You asked about the relationship of micro-evolution to macro-evolution. As you may be aware, there are several different competing evolutionary models ...

Should believers actively try to preserve the earth?

There are some things for which words cannot do justice—sights, smells, and sounds that make the heart come alive, that renew our passions, and that whisper to us of the presence of a good God.

What can you tell me about the Hebrew word for day (yom) used in the Genesis 1 creation account? What is the proof for it being a literal day?

You asked about the use of the Hebrew word for day—yom. First, let’s go back and list a few hermeneutical principles.

The Far Reaches of Christ’s Redemptive Work

Eugene Peterson captures the universal implications of Christ’s redemption when he paraphrases Colossians 1:18-20 in The Message: “He was supreme in the beginning and—leading the resurrection parade—he is supreme in the end. From beginning to end he’s there, towering far above everything, everyone. So spacious is he, so roomy, that everything of God finds its proper place in him without crowding. Not only that, but all the broken and dislocated pieces of the universe—people and things, animals and atoms-get properly fixed and fit together in vibrant harmonies, all because of his death, his blood that poured down from the Cross.”

What is your position on the age of the Earth?

I do not know how many thousands of years old the earth is, but I don’t believe it is millions.

A Dialogue About Origins

I wrote this dialogue a few years ago for my book Deadline, but it was nonessential, so I removed it, and it's never been published until now. I hope some readers will find the interaction between these two men stimulating and useful.

What is your opinion of day-age creationism?

In my opinion, the Bible plainly teaches that God recently created everything in six literal days.

Do you take a position in the young Earth/old Earth debate? If so, where are you?

EarthIf I had only Scripture to judge by I would assume it is a young Earth. If I had only science to judge by I would assume it is an old Earth. I know that the two can be reconciled but I'm not entirely convinced either way. I probably lean toward the young Earth in the belief that the assumptions guiding the testing of the Earth's age may be faulty (e.g. uniform rate of decay).

Scientists and Their Gods: The Question of Coherence

Can God use accidents and embarrassing pauses? He did in the life of one prominent professor.
