Resources: abortifacient

I have recently brought the subject of abortifacient birth control to the elders of my church…

I have recently brought the subject of abortifacient birth control to the elders of my church; they are totally unaware of this and have asked me to pull together information for them. All my research has been the same across the board, denying the effect, except for this one pro-life Christian ministry, Baptists for Life. What do you guys say?

Birth Control Pill: Abortifacient and Contraceptive

...it has become glaringly apparent that now is the time for us, as an organization, to sail into the dangerous and uncharted waters that we have, perhaps intentionally, avoided.  These are the “waters” of pro-life principles as they relate to fertility control.

Abortifacient Effect of the Birth Control Pill

The Pill: Addressing the Scientific and Ethical Questions of the Abortifacient Issue

Morning After Pill”

Is there any new material addressing the scientific and ethical questions of the “morning after pill” and the whole abortifacient issue?

Randy Alcorn has a revised ProLife Answers to ProChoice Arguments as well as his book Why ProLife? published in 2004. He has taken great care to cite all original sources for his readers so that they may use the books not only for reading, but as reference tools. Randy is, as far as I know, the most synthesized writer on the topic. By that I mean that he has done an extraordinary analysis of the available evidence and has put it into a format that is accessible and comprehensible to the average reader.

Why does Focus on the Family take a stand against emergency contraception (EC) but not the birth control pill (BCP)?

There is (at least in my mind and many others) an inconsistency in our position statement. I believe that there is considerable evidence that so-called birth control pills (BCPs) do have a significant post-ovulatory (abortifacient) effect. For example, women generally have lighter periods on the pill. The lining of the womb can thin to less than 7mm (the minimum that infertility doctors believe is optimal for successful implantation). In fact, as you know, BCPs can be used to treat dysfunctional uterine bleeding by causing a hypertrophic endometrium to become thinner over several cycles.

American Society of Reproductive Medicine Statement Confirms the Pill Causes Abortion

Amidst an ongoing debate among prolife advocates about whether to classify the Pill as an abortifacient or a prophylactic, pro-abortion advocates have published an authoritative statement declaring that the Pill prevents implantation of embryos, thereby causing an abortion.
