Resources: abortion & the bible

What is your response to the 2008 Democratic Party platform on abortion?

Substitute “a woman’s right to choose a safe and legal abortion” with “a man’s right to rape a woman” or “a white person’s right to enslave black people” or “a Nazi’s right to kill Jews” and you will understand how repugnant this statement is to a person who believes that both Scripture and science show us that unborn children are, in fact, children. (And it is every bit as repugnant when I hear Republicans present this as their position.)

Why Should I Speak Up for the Unborn?

Proverbs 31:8-9 says, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” Who is more poor and needy, more incapable of speaking up for themselves than these unborn children, created in the image of God? Who in our country has been stripped of legal protection and is being killed at the rate of over one million per year? And who will speak up for them if not us?

Life Issues: Distraction from the Great Commission or Part of It?

Over the years I’ve often been told that human life issues, such as abortion and euthanasia, are not what the church of Jesus Christ is to be about.

If an unborn baby is better off in God’s presence, then why do Christians consider abortion a crime against the unborn?

* If...this life is a vapor,

* And...it’s infinitely better to be with God in heaven,

* And...babies (including the unborn) and children who die below that elusive age of accountability go to heaven (as I believe)

* Then...why do some Christians consider abortion such a crime against the unborn?

I Wish Someone Had Told Me…

I Wish Someone Had Told Me...

  • That the first time I had sex, I would get pregnant.
  • That the “man” with whom I shared that first “intimate moment” would choose not to father his own child.
  • That the “man” who seemed to “know what was best” would actually be encouraging me to make the most regretful decision of my life, as well as his.

Speak the Truth in Love about Abortion

ProLife Answers to ProChoice Arguments

In the first century, Christ's followers were recognized immediately. What gave them away?

It wasn’t their buildings, programs, publications, or political power. They had none.

In Acts 4:33, we’re told, “With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all.” (NIV)

The first Christians told the truth about Jesus and lived by his grace. Truth was the food they ate and the message they spoke. Grace was the air they breathed and the life they lived.

The world around them had never seen anything like it. It still hasn’t.

Some people say the Old Testament words “children” and “seed” mean the same thing. In light of God’s command to be fruitful, should we use birth control?

Question from a reader:

I believe children are precious to God, and I would never use a form of birth control that could potentially kill a baby. But all of these arguments are confusing. My husband and I are praying God would give us convictions for our own family when it comes to family size. We don’t want to just follow what the world says to do (i.e. use the pill, stop having children for convenience reasons, have a vasectomy when we are “done" having children). What advice would you give me?
