Abortion is about God. To leave God out of the picture of abortion is to trivialize it. All things are trivial without God.
I have come to the conclusion that abortion may not be as off limits for Christians as the church professes it to be be. I have laid out my argument below. What do you think?
If we used the same logic of separation of church and state, we would not have laws against killing adults either, since the Bible says "Thou shalt not murder."
Present it in a way that is not offensive or accusatory.
There is a small but influential circle of prochoice advocates who claim to base their beliefs on the Bible. They maintain that “nowhere does the Bible prohibit abortion.” Yet the Bible clearly prohibits the killing of innocent people (Exodus 20:13). All that is necessary to prove a biblical prohibition of abortion is to demonstrate that the Bible considers the unborn to be human beings.
The Bible teaches human beings are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27; James 3:9). Not just Adam and Eve, but each individual since has been personally created by God (Malachi 2:10). Personhood is never measured by age, stage of development, or mental, physical, or social skills (Exodus 4:11).
Scriptures on the shedding of innocent blood.
“Do this so that innocent blood will not be shed in your land, which the LORD your God is giving you as your inheritance, and so that you will not be guilty of bloodshed.” (Deuteronomy 19:10)
When one of my students in an ethics class at Multnomah Bible College paraphrased Scripture on the subject of children, it inspired me to do the same. One of these statements is from God (Psalm 128:3-5), the others from a godless world. Can you choose which?
The following guidelines have been developed by the pro-life activists of Vital Signs Ministries who have been engaged in these ministries for over 25 years. We make them available to others in order to give them a clearer understanding of what is involved in this aspect of pro-life ministry and to help them best honor our heavenly Father as we strive to serve Him together in this important witness.
