Randy Alcorn: Deadline, Dominion, Deception

Over the last two weekends (and trailing into the wee hours of this morning!), Jenni and I listened to three more outstanding audio books by Randy Alcorn: Deadline, Dominion, and Deception. They’re like modern Sherlock Holmes novels that deal in an edifying way with issues like abortion, racism, and faith and challenge readers to live in light of eternity.

Have you ever considered writing a book from the perspective of Manny?

Deadline, Dominion & DeceptionI really enjoyed reading your Deadline/Dominion/Deception series. Have you ever considered writing another book from the perspective of Manny?

I believe I’ve read somewhere that your book Deadline is being made into a movie? Could you share about that?

Chuck Norris approached me four years ago, asking me to come stay with him to talk about making a movie. He said Deadline had a great impact on him, and he really wanted to see it produced. Since then we’ve been with Chuck and Gena a number of times, in California and Texas, and they’ve come up to Oregon to our place, and we’ve developed a close relationship. (You should have seen the reactions when Chuck walked in with me to our home church where I used to be a pastor; our church is in Boring, Oregon. No joke, that’s the name of the town. Let’s just say celebrities don’t find their way to our church.) Chuck and Gena are sincere followers of Christ, looking for biblical counsel and seeking to grow and honor the Lord.

How did you come up with the idea for Deadline?

I am an 8th grade student and my teacher has assigned us a reading project about any book of our choice. I have chosen to read your book Deadline. I am not the kind of person who enjoys reading very much, but your book has really caught my attention. As part of my assignment, I would like to ask you how did you come up with the idea for this story?

Deadline: Coming-of-age tale focusing on faith, hope and love

Moving through the pages of a classic mystery/suspense novel, one would expect to find the usual fare: thrills, some gore, exciting plot and the obligatory romance thrown in for good measure.

Readers’ Responses to Deadline

DeadlineThis was such an exciting, suspenseful, Christian mystery novel. It contained wonderful and thorough character development. One really gets drawn into the story of these three guys and their families. The moral and social issues that are examined are thought-provoking. This book hooked me from the first page and dragged me at breakneck speed on a thrill ride. I really felt like I knew these people, and was very concerned for my friends! The author succeeded on so many levels to make this book a joy to read. — C. H.
