What things are truly worth our limited time and concentrated focus, because they’re not going to be thrown onto the next pile of trash or tossed into the thrift store donation box?

On the one hand, the Bible calls death “the last enemy” (1 Corinthians 15:26). On the other hand, for the person whose faith and actions have prepared him for it, death is a deliverer, casting off the burdens of a hostile world and ushering him into the world for which he was made.

Michael Griffiths wrote God’s Forgetful Pilgrims, in which he maintains that the church has largely forgotten her wondrous identity in Christ and has settled for the world’s substitute identities. I came across the original British edition of the book, which had a more striking title: Cinderella with Amnesia.

As the rocket lifts off, one of your fellow astronauts asks, “What do you know about Mars?” Envision shrugging your shoulders and saying, “Nothing. We never talked about it.
