“Rescuing” is a united action in which people peacefully place their bodies in front of the entrances of an abortion clinic. The purpose is to prevent access to the clinic, and to thereby save the lives of unborn children who would otherwise be killed shortly after their mothers enter the building.
If Roe v. Wade is reversed by the Supreme Court, abortion will still be widely available in America, since many states will legalize it immediately. However, states will at least have the freedom to choose, which they have not had since 1973. With all the talk about the possible dismantling of Roe v. Wade by the Supreme Court, pro abortion advocates everywhere are crying, “The anti abortion beliefs of the minority shouldn’t be imposed on the majority of Americans.” But what do Americans really believe about abortion? We know the media is dominantly pro abortion, but what about average citizens?

After reading my book ProLife Answers to Pro-Choice Arguments, someone sent me an editorial from Spectrum, the student newspaper of the University of New York at Buffalo. The first time 7-year-old Emily Bausch met Norma McCorvey, she had no idea she had come face to face with an icon of the pro-abortion movement—”Jane Roe” of Roe v. Wade. To Emily, “Miss Norma” was just another person who needed Jesus.

Years ago I was given an amazing opportunity to address three thousand people, most of them high school students, on the subject of abortion. This happened in a model political convention at Portland’s Memorial Coliseum.
As I have shared before, God answered prayer in dramatic ways. There was significant opposition when I began speaking. (Some students marched in protest and others stood, turned their backs to the platform, and put their fingers in their ears). But as I spoke I could sense God moving and the tide turning. When I finished (I was given an hour and spoke for 45 minutes) I was surrounded by high schoolers with questions.
We who follow Christ sometimes have to face realities that make us uncomfortable—this is one of those times. We must not allow our discomfort to keep us from facing the truth, from coming to terms with God’s Word. So let’s give each other permission to be uncomfortable. The hurt we experience today will be the beginning of healing.
