I struggle with feelings that I cannot control and feel very alone.
My heart goes out to you. One reason is because I can identify with some of what you’re going through. Earlier in my life I struggled with being overwhelmed by feelings.





I am disappointed with God because I sincerely want Him to work in my life to bring about the fruit of the Spirit, but I don’t see Him doing that. I want to experience His power in my life and let the Holy Spirit control me. I have been a Christian for many years, and I sincerely want His love to be expressed through me. It seems that by now His power in my life should be producing love and gentleness.
The answer is not simple. Some biblical texts seem to say no. Others, yes. For example, Jesus warned us: “Woe to you when all men speak well of you” (Luke 6:26). And his own enemies saw in him an indifference to what others thought: “Teacher, we know that you are true, and care for no man; for you do not regard the position of men but truly teach the way of God” (Mark 12:14).
