Revelation 21:1 - 'There was no longer any sea.'

By Randy Alcorn | July 3, 2013
What does it mean that there will no longer be any sea? Randy quotes Charles Spurgeon who asserts that this must have a spiritual meaning. The sea separates nations and to the ancients it was fearsome. It represented danger and death. So in the world to come there will be no division or danger like the sea represented. We shouldn't interpret it as "How sad - no more fun times at the beach." By Randy Alcorn | July 3, 2013
Heaven is described in Scripture as a country, a city and our home. But we often transfer our negative feelings toward these three things in this life onto our concept of heaven. In this video Randy encourages us to not let our present understandings color our view of heaven. Heaven will be perfect - all of the good with none of the bad. Why does God reward us?

By Randy Alcorn | July 3, 2013
Like a parent, God delights to reward His children for what they have done. Randy asserts that to want reward is not a selfish thing. He clarifies that selfishness is wanting something at the expense of another, but God's rewards are not limited, so for one person to receive ongoing rewards does not diminish the rewards available to another person. In God's system, everyone gains and no one loses. This video clip was excerpted from Randy's Eternity 101 DVD class, available at http://www.epm.org/store/product/eternity-101/.

Is 'ruling a city' just a metaphor?

By Randy Alcorn | July 3, 2013
In a parable Jesus tells of the master who puts his faithful servants in charge of cities. Is ruling cities just a metaphor? Randy suggests that it might not be. He quotes Dallas Willard who says that asking if we could rule over a city now is good preparation for eternity. Randy shows what Scripture says about the reality of our rule. Man: A Dethroned Monarch

By Randy Alcorn | July 3, 2013
Blaise Pascal said that, like a dethroned monarch who craves for the influence he or she lost, we often feel a similar impotence to accomplish great things for God. Though the fall has diminished our ability to accomplish as much as may want to, we don't have to wait for heaven to operate within a God given sphere of influence. Randy reminds us that God has given us a sphere of influence and we should serve Him faithfully in it. God and Culture: Inherently in Conflict?

By Randy Alcorn | July 3, 2013
Our human culture has often been in direct opposition to God. But does it have to be? Randy quotes Eric Sauer who posits that cultural achievements (inventions and discoveries, science and art, etc.) can be part of our God-given directive to take dominion over the earth. Luke 16:9-12 - The Parable of the Unjust Steward

By Randy Alcorn | July 3, 2013
