Randy Alcorn's Blog: judgment

Was it wrong to Criticize Pat Robertson’s Comments about Haiti?

Pat RobertsonI received the following comment about my blog on Haiti and Pat Robertson's comments: I am no fan of Pat Robertson, but I have listened to the clip where he talks of Haiti over and over and I have never heard him even ONE TIME say that God punished or judged Haiti. What Robertson said was that Haiti has been cursed since making a pact with the devil. The difference between those two statements are night and day. You have gone on hearsay to condemn a fellow brother in Christ, and that sickens me. You have misrepresented the facts ...

Speak the Truth in Love

speak in loveThe most quoted verse these days is not "For God so loved the world," but "Judge not." Unfortunately, we often fail to understand what this means.

In our own church, a Bible believing fellowship, years ago I spoke to a Sunday school class in which one of the couples stood up and shared that their unborn child had a serious disease and would not live long after birth. Someone asked why I don’t stop this by keeping some of the comments from being posted, or deleting them. Another suggested I disable comments entirely. Yet another suggested I explain and defend myself.

Reluctantly, as of a few days ago, I’ve resorted to moderating the comments. I’ll still let through comments criticizing ...
