Q & A with Randy about Deception
What do you hope readers gain from Deception? First,
a story that entertains them. If that doesn’t work, the theme
or underlying message won’t work either. That underlying message
is that there is an unseen realm and that things are not as they
appear. I want to leave my readers with the sense that to follow
Christ is not only right, but it’s smart and ultimately in
their best interest. To not follow him is a form of self-destruction,
even though we don’t typically think of it that way. If we
have eyes to see, we’ll realize that God’s calling to
us, the life he wants us to live, and the rules and principles of
Scripture are like guardrails. I think readers of Deception are
left with a sense of God’s providence and protection, and also
a sense of the choices he leaves us with, whether we’re believers
or nonbelievers.

Randy to speak at Resolved Conference
As a 19-year-old in the mid 1700s,
Jonathan Edwards became serious about the direction of his life.
So he sat down with a quill and paper and wrote out a series of
commitments. These were simple statements, conclusions, and commitments
forged in the immensity of God and the trauma of His holiness. All
of them began with the same word—"Resolved."
The Resolved Conference (June 13-16) is a call to the new generation
to live with that same resolve.
