Lowering the Standards of Holiness
In October of 2012 Randy spent a weekend at The Cove, The Billy Graham Association's conference center in Asheville, NC. Over the weekend Randy was interviewed by Dr. John Akers on the theme "Four Central Truths of A Biblical Worldview."
John highlights a quote from Randy's book - "Grace never lowers the standards of holiness" - and asks Randy to explain what that means. Randy emphasizes how great God's holiness must be that Jesus had to die to pay for our sin. Grace does not lower the bar, it keeps us up and brings us to meet the bar. We are made righteous with the righteousness of Jesus because it is the only way we could enter Heaven. That is not lowering the standard but transforming us into the righteous people who will live up to the standard.
