Some depression comes from simply feeling the crushing weight of pain and brokenness in one’s life and the lives of others around the globe. Of course, self-preoccupied woe-is-me depression quickly becomes deeply unhealthy. But sometimes when we feel burdened, we may simply be joining the whole of creation in groaning because of a suffering world. In that case, we’re in good company, for “the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express” (Romans 8:26).

Read Luke 1 and 2, and marvel at the sovereign work of our Father, sending His Son, our Savior, into this world. He did it for us, to be our Redeemer.

Does "no more night" mean we will not be able to see the beauty of the stars? Randy Alcorn suggests that the emphasis in these passages is that we will no longer "need" the night. Like the statement that there will no longer be any sea in Revelation 21:1, "no more night" primarily means that there will no longer be the danger, sin and vulnerability that comes with the night.
