Randy Alcorn's Blog: book

Why, O God?: Suffering and Disability in the Bible and the Church

Why, O God?I have never said yes to endorsing a book, much less to writing its foreword, unless I believed in it. I anticipated Why, O God?: Suffering and Disability in the Bible and the Church, edited by Larry Waters and Roy Zuck, would be good, but I am pleased to find it exceptional.

Book Giveaway: Courageous

CourageousFor those of you who have been patiently waiting for a new Randy Alcorn novel, you’re in for a treat: his new novel Courageous, written with Alex and Stephen Kendrick, released August 1!

"Heaven Is for Real", "90 Minutes in Heaven", and other books about visits to Heaven or Hell

Heaven Is For RealIn the past few months, I have been repeatedly asked about the phenomenally popular book Heaven is For Real. This book was again number 1 on the May 8 New York Times bestseller’s list. It has already sold something like four million copies, and it’s not slowing down.

Truthfully, I didn’t want to say anything about this book. But after being asked about it again and again on Facebook and in emails and at a conference, I’ve decided I need to say something.

Follow-up on Rob Bell and the Hell Controversy

Rob BellThis is my third and possibly last blog on this subject. But given its importance to the gospel of Christ and the health of Christ’s body, I make no promises.

Someone placed my Friday blog on their site. A journalist who read it posted this response:  “Alcorn's piece has a pretty major error of fact in the post. It's in this statement: ‘every human being will ultimately be saved, and that none will experience Hell.’ That's not what Bell says in Love Wins.”

Rob Bell and the Controversy over Hell

Love WinsThere has been a lot of online response to Rob Bell’s new book Love Wins. The controversy began with this video, which I've posted here so you can hear Pastor Bell’s own words.

Book Giveaway: Managing God’s Money

Managing God's MoneyMarch 1 marked the release of Randy’s new book Managing God’s Money. This month, three randomly drawn winners from this giveaway will win a copy.

God cares a great deal more about our money than most of us imagine. The sheer enormity of Scripture’s teaching on this subject screams for our attention.

Who Made God?

Who Made God?From time to time I like to review books on my blog. Who Made God?: Searching for a Theory of Everything is a book that offers ideas and insights most of us have never pondered. Author Edgar Andrews presents compelling arguments that challenge the prevailing mechanistic worldviews. His good humor helps him present weighty concepts and makes them easier to grasp.

Q&A: How can I be better prepared for evangelism?

Lord Foulgrin's Letters

I was recently asked the following question on Facebook:
"I had a woman come to my door today, wanting to share the gospel. Why is it that even though I know what I believe and why I believe it, that it is so hard to share with others? She was a Jehovah's Witness, and asked if she could come back to share a scripture again. I told her yes. I will be better prepared next time, but how do I become better prepared?"

In Letter 30 of Lord Foulgrin's Letters, I have one demon instructing another one how to keep a Christian from sharing the gospel...

November Giveaway of the Month: Wait Until Then

Wait Until ThenThis month, three randomly drawn winners will receive the children’s book Wait Until Then, written by Randy Alcorn and beautifully illustrated by Doron Ben-Ami. Nathan loved baseball. He watched it on TV...went to games...read books about it...collected baseball cards. And he talked and dreamed with his grandfather about running the bases. Gramps always told him, "I'm pretty sure our best baseball is still ahead of us." Nathan loved ...
