Muchas personas piensan que el Cielo es una ciudad de ángeles. Han escuchado que todos los que van al Cielo reciben un arpa y una aureola, y que luego se sientan en una nube.
Algunas personas creen que se convertirán en ángeles porque interpretan mal algo que dijo Jesús: “En la resurrección ni se casarán ni se darán en casamiento, sino serán como los ángeles de Dios en el cielo” (Mateo 22:30, RV95). Pero Jesús estaba hablando solamente del hecho de que los ángeles no se casan. Él no estaba diciendo que las personas se convierten en ángeles, ni que seremos como los ángeles en alguna otra forma además de no poder casarse.
Así que, cuál es la respuesta a la pregunta: “¿Nos convertiremos en ángeles en el Cielo?” La respuesta es no. Cuando tú vayas a vivir al Cielo, todavía serás un ser humano. Tanto los ángeles como los seres humanos son inteligentes y fueron creados para servir a Dios, lo cual da significado y gozo a sus vidas. Pero, sin embargo, las personas y los ángeles son muy diferentes. Dios es creativo y le gusta la variedad. (Mira los colores, las flores y los animales.) Él no hizo iguales a todas las criaturas inteligentes. (Fíjate que él ni siquiera hace dos copos de nieve iguales, ni dos huellas digitales iguales.)
Los ángeles son seres con su propia identidad, con historias y recuerdos. Tienen nombres como Miguel y Gabriel. Bajo la dirección de Dios, nos sirven a nosotros en la Tierra. El arcángel Miguel sirve bajo la dirección de Dios; y los otros ángeles, en diferentes posiciones, sirven bajo Miguel. En el Cielo, los seres humanos estarán a cargo de los ángeles (1 Corintios 6:2-3). ¿No te parece formidable eso?

Will we become angels in Heaven?
Many people think that Heaven is a city of angels. They have heard that everyone who goes there receives a harp and halo, then sits on a cloud.
Some people believe that we’ll become angels because they misunderstand something Jesus said: “When the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage. In this respect they will be like the angels in heaven” (Matthew 22:30). But Jesus was just talking about the fact that angels don’t get married. He wasn’t saying that people become angels, or even that we’ll be like angels in any other way besides not marrying.
So what’s the answer to the question, “Will we become angels in Heaven?” The answer is no. When you go to live in Heaven, you will still be a human being. Both angels and humans are intelligent, and both were created to serve God, which gives their lives meaning and joy. But still, people and angels are very different. God is creative and loves variety. (Look at colors, flowers, and animals.) He doesn’t make all intelligent creatures alike. (Hey, he doesn’t even make any two snow-flakes or fingerprints alike!)
Angels are beings with their own identities—with histories and memories. They have names, like Michael and Gabriel. Under God’s direction, they serve us on Earth. Michael, the archangel, serves under God; and the other angels, in different positions, serve under Michael. In Heaven, human beings will be in charge of angels (1 Corinthians 6:2-3). How cool will that be?
