Will We Still Have Our Chronic Illnesses, Such as Diabetes, with Us in Heaven?

Question from a reader:

In your book Heaven you mention Christ reigning during the millennium but the world will still be under the curse. Does that mean we will still have our chronic illnesses with us such as diabetes?

Answer from Randy Alcorn:

HeavenIf you are a believer in Christ, once you leave this life in death or at Christ’s return, you will never suffer from the curse, death or suffering or any disease, including diabetes.

Those who believe in a pre-trib rapture teach that all believers except those who came to faith during the tribulation and survive until its end are resurrected when Christ returns to the Earth. If that’s the case, and you are a Christian now you will be raised before the Millennium. The curse and death apply only to those who are not yet resurrected—those still in their natural bodies during the Millennium.

Amillennialists teach that the Millennium shouldn’t be taken literally, and that shortly after Christ’s return He judges the Earth and forms the New Heavens and New Earth. Again, the resurrection is at His return.

So with either of these schools of thought those who are Christians will never suffer from the curse.
