I have talked with a number of people, including some pastors from good churches, who advocate saying yes to attending homosexual weddings. Their argument centers on the fact that Jesus was and is a friend of sinners and is full of grace. So true. But I have never seen a single wedding invitation that doesn’t request people’s presence to join in celebrating the couple’s union.

The following prayer for our new president-elect and for our nation, from Pastor Kevin DeYoung, is my prayer as well. Please read it and see if you wish to make it yours too.

I highly recommend Kevin DeYoung's book What Does the Bible Really Teach about Homosexuality? He has an appendix on gay marriage that's terrific. Kevin posted it recently in his always excellent blog and I want to draw attention to it because both the book and this small appendix are really worth reading and discussing in our churches.

Kevin DeYoung is a pastor and an excellent writer. His blog is one of my favorites. I’ve talked about the Hobby Lobby case before, but asked Kevin’s permission to repost his blog.

Holiness was once a central component of following Christ. But for many today, the Christian life is little more than a celebration of cheap grace and pseudo-liberty, with a high tolerance for sin. 

Kevin DeYoung is a sharp young pastor and writer who I greatly appreciate. This blog is worth reading and contemplating. 

Last month Kevin DeYoung posted an excellent blog called “10 Reasons to Believe in a Historical Adam.” I can’t say enough about the importance of this subject.
