Would the Bible Disapprove of Me, as a Wife, Being the Primary Breadwinner for My Family?

Marriage is an interdependent relationship in which a wife is dependent on her husband and he is dependent on his wife. They both bring different roles and gifts and perspectives to the marriage and the husband is given the primary leadership. That leadership really entails the financial provision for the home.

Ephesians 5 and all other Scriptures related to man’s leadership and his marriage would relate to this.

The wife being dependent on her husband as leader and provider doesn’t mean a failure to develop and exercise her own gifts and skills. That can be done with the children, in work outside the home, in ministry in the church, etc. but the husband should normally be the primary provider for the household.
