A Good Marriage Requires Work

article June 6, 2022
Nanci and I said to each other honestly, “We are different enough that if we didn’t have the Lord we might have divorced for irreconcilable differences.” But God reconciled our differences and made each of us better. And in time the differences weren’t irritating; they became endearing.

I Worry Over My Teen Daughter’s Salvation. Do You Have Any Advice?

article December 2, 2021
It’s wonderful your daughter has professed faith. I don’t think you need to stress about making sure she prays the sinner’s prayer again or pressure her to do so, since knowing Jesus is a heart issue and not a matter of saying particular words.

How Does a Man Become a Godly Husband?

article January 22, 2021
Recently a man in a struggling marriage asked me how to become a godly husband. My first thought was, “You’ve just taken the first step—knowing you need to be a godly husband and asking for help.”

I’ve Met Someone I’m Prayerfully Considering Dating, But I Have Some Concerns About Personality Traits. What’s Your Advice?

article January 5, 2021
Decisions about dating, and considering whether someone is a person you could commit yourself to in marriage, are tough. You really need the help of an older, wiser, godly mentor who knows you well and can talk these issues through with you.

Is It Important for Married Couples to Have Bible Study and Prayer Together, and If So, How Should We Go About It?

article December 28, 2020
Nanci and I pray together every night at bedtime, with pretty much no exceptions. We both are in the Word during the day, but usually at different times and places. We seek to share what we’re learning, and it's rich when we do, but it’s also true there is nothing like devotions together as a couple.

How Can I Trust My Spouse Again after They Were Unfaithful? They’re Repentant, But Shouldn’t I Just Divorce Them and Be Done?

article October 21, 2020
I am basing my counsel to you on what you have told me: that your husband has confessed his adulterous affair to God and to you, has repented of his sins and placed his faith in Jesus, and desires to reconcile with you.

Husbands, We’re Called to Help Our Wives Grow in Christ

article November 16, 2018
Men, one of the best possible things we can do for our wives and children (and ourselves!) is to share with them great resources to help them grow in Christ.

Encouragement to Men to Lead Their Families Spiritually

video August 10, 2018
I would challenge men to be the spiritual leaders of their homes. What does that look like on a daily basis? Open God’s Word with your wife, your children, and your grandchildren. Pray with them, talk with them, and guide them.
Does Scripture Permit Me to Remarry After Divorce by Desertion from an Unbeliever?

Does Scripture Permit Me to Remarry After Divorce by Desertion from an Unbeliever?

article May 23, 2018

Question from a reader:

After 16 years of cruel, emotional, mental, and illegal abuse ending in divorce by desertion from an unbeliever, may I (the victim) ever remarry? First Corinthians 7:15 says that I am no longer under bondage, but does it mean I may remarry? I am so burdened about this. Please will you give me some insight?

Of Marriage and Uprooting Our Idols: Three Pieces of Advice for Newlywed Women

article April 23, 2018
What Shauna Hernandez, a beloved member of our EPM team, has to share here is wise, insightful, and transparent. I think it’s helpful not only for newlyweds, but also those who’ve been married for many years.

Invest in Eternity

If you’ve found our resources to be helpful, we invite you to consider making a one-time or recurring donation. It’s the generous support of our ministry partners that enables us to continue our eternity-shaping work.

However, we’re here to serve everyone without cost, so please don’t feel obligated to give to us. Jesus said, “Freely you have received, freely give” (Matt. 10:8). It’s our privilege and joy to share freely what God has so graciously given us.
