Bringing everyone the “good news of happiness” about Jesus shouldn’t be seen as a grim duty, but as a sheer delight and a privilege. After all, the gospel is the best news there has ever been or ever will be!

We’re continually bombarded by “news” (sometimes more sensational than informative) that dwells on the sufferings and tragedies of life. This unceasing avalanche of bad news, as well as rampant political tribalism, suspicion, and critical opinions, can quickly bury what Scripture calls “the good news of happiness” (Isaiah 52:7).

The true gospel cannot be improved upon. Theologian J. Gresham Machen (1881–1937) said, “In the gospel there is included all that the heart of man can wish.”
