What About Cremating Pets?

Question from a reader:

I’ve heard you talk about animals and Heaven, and the possibility of our pets being there. So do you think we should cremate our pets? I know nothing is impossible for God, but what if there’s no body to resurrect?

Answer from Randy Alcorn:

As to whether God can resurrect a body, whether human or animal, that’s been cremated, that’s no problem whatsoever! I share some thoughts about people and cremation here. As far as pets, that’s a personal decision. We did choose to cremate our pets who have died.

Joni Eareckson Tada says, “If God brings our pets back to life, it wouldn’t surprise me. It would be just like Him. It would be totally in keeping with His generous character. . . . Exorbitant. Excessive. Extravagant in grace after grace.”
