It’s likely that books will have a greater role in our lives in Heaven than they do now. The libraries of the New Earth, I imagine, will be fantastic.

I have lamented before about the large number of young men who are not readers, and who therefore are not readers of God's Word. 

I thought Kevin DeYoung’s post about “real books” (which I’ve included part of below) was interesting.

A few months ago, someone asked me on my Facebook page what Christian biographies I would recommend. Reading and discussing biographies of faithful believers can give both children and adults footprints to follow, especially through our suffering.

When I was researching Heaven, I read 150 volumes on the subject, many long out-of-print. Since the book came out I’ve read a dozen more.

Recently someone asked if I could recommend any good, readable (not too academic) books that deal with the authority and reliability of Scripture.

My friends Brett and Alex Harris, on their wonderful website www.therebelution.com, cited a Wall Street Journal article about the importance of reading, and the great decline in reading among boys. I have often cited this as one of the most alarming trends of our day.
