Filled with Thanksgiving

This has been another year of challenges related to Nanci’s cancer and treatments. However, paradoxically yet providentially, to us it has been a very good year. We are filled with thanksgiving.

I asked Nanci to share some thoughts. She wrote, “We have felt the presence of God throughout this journey. His goodness and mercy have been seen in so many details along the way. He has filled our hearts with hope, not fear. Our trust in His sovereign plan is based upon His steadfast love for us.”

Amen to that. In the midst of the strangeness of these last twenty months, Nanci and I have experienced grateful dependence on the goodness and grace of our Lord and Savior. It’s been a time of growth and sweetness in our marriage, and of heartfelt gratitude toward friends near and far who have extended heart-touching grace and kindness to us.

It’s also been a remarkable season for Eternal Perspective Ministries. Every day we hear from people across the world who are being touched through our books, website, articles, social media, magazine, videos, emails, and personal interactions. We hear from prisoners, pastors, businesspeople, homemakers, teachers, physicians, cops, students, and others whose lives are being changed. We now have our books in more than seventy languages, and our articles are being steadily translated to reach more and more people of different tribes, nations, and languages.

We couldn’t do this without your support and prayers. We sincerely thank you for your partnership in reaching people with the Gospel and teaching them to set their eyes on Jesus and cultivate an eternal perspective.

Not long after Nanci’s cancer diagnosis nearly four years ago, she put up these words on our bedroom wall, and they speak to us every day great truth about our King:

Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23)

Thank you for all your love and prayers, for us as well as for Eternal Perspective Ministries. Whether this Thanksgiving is a time of rejoicing or sorrow, may you be comforted by the Lord’s promise that He will be with you always.
