Today is the 33rd anniversary of the death of my childhood best friend, Jerry. In God’s providence, earlier this summer I ran across my 2007 blog about him. I’m reposting it in honor of my friend, and in the hope that readers will find this tribute to friendship to be encouraging. 

This Wednesday, October 8, is the 44th anniversary of the death of my precious mother, Lucille Vivian Tovrea Alcorn. Hardly a day goes by where I don’t think of her and thank God for her.

I realize not everyone gets the chance to have a final gathering with their family. But I do encourage anyone who has a terminal illness to use your remaining time to have God-honoring interactions with your loved ones and say whatever needs to be said while you still can.

Our grandson Jake got married to Richie in Phoenix on June 20, the first of our five grandsons to get married. Getting to know Richie, and gaining a granddaughter has been delightful! Their wedding was beautiful and wonderful.

Tomorrow, May 31, is Nanci’s and my 50th wedding anniversary. I thank God for His faithfulness and the time we had together.  I will not regret the years we might have had but be profoundly grateful for the years we did have—and not just the quantity, but the quality.
