Our life in God's presence will be fullness of joy. Upon our deaths, we’ll be face to face with goodness Himself, and we’ll be able to ask Jesus our questions directly. And for now, we can rest in His character: His goodness, mercy, kindness, and abundant grace. 

Randy visited Tyndale House to celebrate the 20^th anniversary of his book Heaven. While there, he was interviewed by his friend Carol Traver at a staff gathering. They talk about his writing and the impact of the Heaven book, as well as some personal stories from Randy. It is a fun conversation with a lot of laughs.

In a video call, Jordan Raynor hosted a question and answer time with Randy about Heaven, the New Earth, and vocation, as well as several other topics.  

Singer and songwriter Dallas Holm recorded a podcast episode with his daughter on the subject of my book Heaven. He has an unusually acute understanding of the book—his comments about Christoplatonism display an awareness that is not common, but right on target.

Jesus is preparing His disciples for when He ascends, and He is speaking directly to them. But they also are representing Christ’s future church, and therefore all believers.

When Heaven was released in 2004, people said, “How can this be true, since I’ve never heard it before?” I understood—I’d never been taught these ideas in Bible college, seminary, or church.

Ultimately, it’s an opportunity for us to trust Jesus and rest in His goodness and wisdom. He loves you and your husband more than you can possibly know. He has only good things ahead for all of us who are in Christ. We can trust Him! 

Everything our bodies need will function perfectly, but there are likely to be several parts of our bodies which will no longer serve a purpose…tonsils, perhaps some other glands as well, may become irrelevant. 

The best thing you can do is replace those lies with the truth, and let the truth be what you focus on. Randy has shared this quote attributed to Martin Luther: “You can’t keep the birds from flying over your head, but you can keep them from making a nest in your hair.”

It seems like there is so little understanding of what goes on in the brain of someone with dementia. We know that once we're on the New Earth, our resurrected bodies won't suffer from any of the diseases and ailments we experience here on Earth.

We do want to be very careful to keep the focus on Jesus, and remember that He is the only Mediator we need. (Seeking contact with the dead is clearly forbidden in Scripture.)

Scripture commands us to set our hearts on Heaven: “Set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God” (Colossians 3:1). And to make sure we don’t miss the importance of a Heaven-centered life, the next verse says, “Set your minds on things above.”
