In October 2015, Randy Alcorn was a guest on Greg Laurie's Podcast, A New Beginning, talking about happiness. 

Some years ago, I sat with my daughters at a wonderful father/daughter banquet at our church. Someone at the table asked my youngest daughter, Angela, what I’d done that made the biggest impression on her. I had no idea what she would say, but of course I hoped for something spectacular. :)

Ask the Holy Spirit to make you sensitive to the needs and interests of your children (and grandchildren). The following points might be good starting places for your conversations with them.

What qualities does God want us to develop in our children? No need to guess. Scripture tells us specifically.

If Christian parents remind their Christian children that the worst that can happen in death is temporary separation, it’s reassuring. 

God has a special love for children and desires for children of all cultures and nationalities to come into a relationship with Him through Christ. 

I remember when our daughters were small, the importance of trying to convey even to really good kids that they are sinners, lost without Christ. It’s a delicate balance.
