The following guidelines have been developed by the prolife activists of Vital Signs Ministries who have been engaged in these ministries for over 25 years. We make them available to others in order to give them a clearer understanding of what is involved in this aspect of prolife ministry and to help them best honor our heavenly Father as we strive to serve Him together in this important witness.

CMDA holds firmly that God is the Creator of life, that life begins at conception, and that all human life is of infinite value. We support measures to protect life from its earliest beginnings.

Some of the world’s most prominent scientists and physicians testified to a U.S. Senate committee that human life begins at conception: A United States Senate Judiciary Subcommittee invited experts to testify on the question of when life begins. All of the quotes from the following experts come directly from the official government record of their testimony.

“Do this so that innocent blood will not be shed in your land, which the LORD your God is giving you as your inheritance, and so that you will not be guilty of bloodshed.” (Deuteronomy 19:10)

These are quotes by former clinic workers. These people have left the abortion business for various reasons. Many have left because they decided that abortion is wrong, and some are now part of the prolife movement.   

Many abortion providers cannot escape the fact that abortion is the taking of a life—the killing of a baby. “I have the utmost respect for life; I appreciate that life starts early in the womb, but also believe that I’m ending it for good reasons.…So yes, I end life, but even when it’s hard, it’s for a good reason.” - Cheryl Alkon, “Confessions of an Abortion Doctor,” Boston Magazine

Abortionists view the carnage of abortion on a daily basis. Many of them feel ambivalent.

One common point of contention in the abortion debate is the subject of informed consent. Members of the Prolife faction have introduced legislation to make sure that a woman is well-informed before her abortion. 

The Bible teaches human beings are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27; James 3:9). Not just Adam and Eve, but each individual since has been personally created by God (Malachi 2:10). Personhood is never measured by age, stage of development, or mental, physical, or social skills (Exodus 4:11).

There is a small but influential circle of prochoice advocates who claim to base their beliefs on the Bible. They maintain that “nowhere does the Bible prohibit abortion.” 

For health consumers and health care professionals of an orthodox Judeo-Christian or Islamic tradition, as well as those authentically concerned with the universal respect of unqualified human rights, the asserted capacity of the pill to act as an abortifacient, both in its once-a-day and ‘morning-after’ permutations, is one of significant moral weight.

I believe it comes down to a form of denial that is based upon protecting oneself from considering that as a Christian one may have been part of abortion promotion by means of a prescription.

Rape is so horrible that we easily transfer our horror to the wrong object. We must not impose the ugliness of rape or incest upon either the innocent woman or the innocent child.
