In this clip from a Q&A at an illumiNations gathering, Randy Alcorn discusses the power God’s Word has to change hearts, and the role it has played in his personal life.  

Randy joins a conversation with Stephan Tchividjian and Morgan Jackson at a gathering of illumiNations partners (Bible translation and resource partners working together to eradicate Bible poverty in this generation). They cover topics such as the power of God’s Word (both at home and abroad), the problem of suffering, and the hope of the New Earth.

Randy Alcorn was on the Do Hard Things podcast with The Rebelution to talk about the hope we have in Heaven (and what Heaven is really going to be like). He shared how this hope has sustained him through his own season of loss and suffering.

Many Christians think about the present Heaven, where Christians go now when they die, but have never considered the future Heaven, after the resurrection, which will be a physical place occupied by physical people who will live forever with Jesus and all those who love Him.

I love this article by Greg Morse, staff writer for Desiring God. How easy it is to fall into a Christian life of drudgery where we wearily put one foot in front of another, thinking, “I’m going to try my best to live for Jesus,” all the while neglecting to actually focus on Him.

Randy visited California Baptist University in Riverside, California where he shared at their chapel. He spoke about suffering, Heaven, and the goodness of God, and also about his wife Nanci and her faithfulness through cancer. The date he spoke was actually the one-year anniversary of the day the Alcorn family of 11 gathered around her bed, and Nanci spoke powerfully into their lives. A week later, she went to be with Jesus.

Randy joined Pure Desire Ministries on their podcast to discuss the problem of Christian leaders and pastors having moral failings. Randy helps listeners to understand what contributes to the fall of high-profile leaders, how churches can recover and heal, and how to prevent failures from happening.  

Randy visited Liberty University and spoke to the student body about a theology of suffering. He shared some of his personal experiences of hardship, and also talked about the hope of Heaven and what that means to him now that his beloved wife Nanci is there.
